Several Chesham teams through to county quarter finals.
The regional rounds of the Men's County competitions have been completed and Chesham have been particularly successful this year. Through to the quarter finals in the singles is Roger Elliston, in the pairs Peter Horton / Mick Skerry and David Roberts / Roy Rodgers. Triples team Howard Cave, Ray Keen and Keith Patrick have got through and two teams in the fours Michael Nash, Tony Strudwick, Roger Elliston and Roy Rodgers and Howard Cave, Chris Harvey, Ray Keen and Keith Patrick. All the quarter final matches are being played this week.
Jean McNab also got through to the quarter finals of the ladies county singles for the first time, but lost to eventual finalist Carole Lowe of Burnham.
In the first round of the ladies Vi Trundel competition this week against Chess Vale, both home and away legs won, Courtney Harvey, June Holland, Lin Wright and Pat Rodgers won 27 -13 and Fay Green, Barbara Strudwick, Terri Keen and Avril Harland won 28 – 14. However in the Burnham Plate away to Amersham, Chesham rink, Mo Bailey, Fay Holmes, Jane Evans and Dot Burgin lost 18 – 17 going down on the last end.
In friendly matches this week, Chesham had a comfortable win against Bovingdon 108 – 79, with top rink John Hooper, Robbie Williams, Vi Coppin and David Sills 33 – 7.
However on Sunday, lost to Chess Vale 71 – 115, with Delphine Brown, Brian Skuse, Norman Green and Keith Hewitt being top rink.
In a ladies triples match, Chesham lost to Amersham 45 – 55, but did have a top rink of Barbara Strudwick, Jean McNab and Helen Fillery 20 – 15.
