In the mid-Bucks Cup at Aston Clinton Chesham men gained maximum points
winning all four games. Singles Harley Neems won 21 shots to 5, pairs
David Coles and Roy Rodgers 25-13, triples Brian Wright, Frank
McCartney and Keith Patrick 23-8 and fours Chris Bunce, Ray Keen, Diet
Townend and Mick Skerry 18-10.
Chesham did not do so well in the
National Top Club against Hazells, losing both singles and the triples,
but winning the other two games. Ashley Ware lost in 2-wood singles
12-18, Harley Heems lost 10-21 in the 4-wood singles, pairs David Coles
and Jack Elliott won 20-16, triples Brian Wright, Roy Rodgers and Keith
Patrick lost 18-19 and Geoff Denham, Ray Keen, Diet Townend and Mick
Skerry won 23-19.
In the ladies' Top Club played at Amersham Daphne
Halsey just won the singles after a battle on a cold and windy morning
scoring 22 shots to 20. The pairs of Marlene Neems and Avril Harland
won 18-15, the triples Fay Green, Sue Faulks and Pat Rodgers lost 9-21
and the fours Terri Keen, Fay Holmes, Lin Wright and Sue Springell won
28-11. Aggregate score Chesham 77 Amersham 67.
In the Bucks County
unbadged singles semi-final two of Chesham's young players clashed with
Chris Bunce beating Sam Burgin 21 shots to 16.
In the weekend club
friendly matches Chesham got the better of Aston Clinton in a five
mixed triples game 102 shots to 72. Winning triple Mo Bailey, Sylvia
Warrington and Keith Hewitt, but lost to Marlow on the following day
95-133. HWR John Hooper, Colin Parsons, Colin Ware and Chris Fillery.
