CATLING CUP The Men’s Singles Championship of the Club. The Champion will have the honour of representing the club in the Champion of Champions Competition and the London and Southern Counties Gold Badge Competition in the following season. The losing finalist will represent the Club in the Lonsdale Trophy. The winner of each round is the first player to score 21 shots.
ROSE CUP (Handicap) A Men’s singles competition where each competitor is allocated a handicap by the Competitions Committee. The players will calculate the difference in their handicaps and the lower handicapped player will commence the game with that number of shots on the scoreboard. The winner of each round is the first player to score 21 shots.
DUNTON CUP A Men’s singles competition where each player uses only two woods. Each game consists of 21 ends.
CHAMPIONSHIP PAIRS The Men’s Pairs championship of the Club. The Champion shall have the honour of representing the club in the London & Southern Counties Pairs Competition in the Following Season. Each game consists of 18 ends.
CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLES The Men’s Triples Championship of the Club. The winners will have the honour of representing the Club in the London and Southern Counties Triples Competition in the following season. Each game consists of 18 ends.
Ladies Competition
HIGGS CUP The Women’s singles Championship of the Club. The Champion will have the honour of representing the Club in the Champion of Champions Competition in the following season. The winner of each round is the first player to score 21 shots.
WENDY CUP A Women’s singles competition where each competitor is allocated a handicap by the Competitions Committee. BECKLEY CUP A Women’s singles competition where each player uses only two woods. Each game consists of 21 ends.
SPARKS CUP A Women’s drawn pairs competition. Each game consists of 18 ends.
MAISIE SAWYER TROPHY A Women’s drawn triples competition where each player uses only two woods. Each game consists of 18 ends.
Mixed Competition
CLUB CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS A single match between the winners of the Catling and Higgs Cup Competitions, played after Final Weekend. The winner of the match is the first player to score 21 shots.
TOWN CUP An open pairs competition (any mix). The competition is open to pairs from all Chesham Clubs (Broadway, Chessvale & Chesham. Both members of the pair must belong to the same club. Each game consists of 18 ends. The pairs drawn first shall have home advantage with the exception of the Final, which shall be played at Chesham Bowling Club on their Finals Day.
MIXED PAIRS A drawn pairs competition. Each pair shall comprise one man and one woman. Each game consists of 18 ends.
JOHN COLES CUP An open singles competition, the best of three sets, 7 shots to win a set. For the final day it is the best of five sets. The Player winning the toss shall decide to keep or give up the mat. In the second game the mat passes to the opposing player. In the event of a 3rd game the players will toss again. In a Final, the mat will alternate after the first game and if a 5th set is required the players will toss again.
SHACKMAN CUP A singles competition open to all members who have not previously won a Club singles competition. The winner of each round is the first player to score 21 shots.
CYRIL PERKINS VETERANS CUP A singles competition open to all members who have reached the age of 65 by 30th April in the year of the competition. The winner of each round is the first player to score 21 shots.
NEEMS CUP A singles competition played to 21 shots. Entries are restricted to those members with playing experience of 3 years or less and who have not previously won a singles competition.
FRIDAY MIXED TRIPLES LEAGUE A mixed triples league played on Friday evenings in August. Each team consists of 5 players who normally each play 3 of the 5 evenings. Each game consists of 15 ends.

For the Wendy Cup and Rose Cup Handicap Competitions Only
A player’s handicap is based on their highest qualifying achievement within the previous 3 seasons. Only one category will apply to each player, and the highest applicable handicap should be used.

Clarification of “Previous 3 Seasons - ”Previous 3 years” means the three completed seasons before the current season. As there are no competition results yet for the current year, handicaps are based only on results from the previous three seasons. For example, for the 2026 season, handicaps have been calculated using results and information from: 2025, 2024 and 2023 When handicaps are calculated for the 2027 season, the 2023 results will no longer count. Handicaps will then be based on: 2026, 2025 and 2024 This means that if a player achieved a qualifying result in 2023 but has not had any further qualifying results since then, that 2023 achievement will no longer affect their handicap from 2027 onwards.

Only one handicap category applies to each player.
If a player qualifies under more than one category, the highest handicap applies.
These handicaps also apply to bowlers joining CBC from other clubs, based on equivalent achievements.
