Sue Faulks and Avril Harland have won through to the Buckinghamshire County Finals and so will go on to represent Buckinghamshire in the National Championships at Leamington. Avril Harland won the quarter final of the singles 21-8 against Angela Atkinson of Princes Risborough, and beat Julie Skerry of Burnham B.C. 21-16 in the semi-final. In the two-wood singles Sue Faulks won 15-12 against Gina Doddington of Stoney Stratford in the quarter final, and went on the win the semi-final against Mary Price of Burnham again scoring 15-12. This year they will be at home in the final as the Bucks County finals which are being held at Chesham Bowling Club over the weekend of 18th and 19th July.
In the Men's County competitions the end of the regional rounds saw two Chesham triples through to the quarter finals, both beating Chesham opposition. Michael Nash, Brian Wright and Nathan Harvey won 16 - 14 against Howard Cave, Ray Keen and Keith Patrick. Roy Rodgers, Roger Elliston and Chris Harvey won 20 - 4 against Ashley Ware, Diet Townend and Frank McCartney. Also through to the quarter-finals is Nathan Harvey who won against his father Chris Harvey in a really close match 21 - 20, Nathan coming from behind to steal the win. In a Burnham Plate home match against Broadway, Chesham team of Pam Hooper, Helen Fillery, Jackie Bateman and Fay Holmes gained a 44 - 10 win which gave them much needed shots in their quest to lead their division. In friendly matches this week Chesham had a good win against Bovingdon winning on all four rinks 132 - 40. Top rink for Chesham was Dave Hobbs, Tricia Parsons, Fay Green and Geoff Denham 37 -4. However away at Chess Vale there was a loss 72 - 128, but Chesham did have a top rink of Brian Cox, Sylvia Warrington, Jenny Ware and Tony Holt 26 - 12. Comments are closed.
