Pat and Avril through in the county 2 wood competition, Avril and Sue through in the pairs
Regional rounds of the ladies county competitions have been completed and Pat Rodgers and Avril Harland are in the semi-finals of the two wood competition. Avril Harland with Sue Faulks have also won through to the quarter-finals of the pairs competition.
In the Chiltern & Thames mixed league away to Chalfont St Giles, Chesham won on just one of the three triples, but the score of triple Sylvia Warrington, Brian Wright and Peter Horton (28 – 14) was enough to ensure that Chesham won overall on the total shots.
In the penultimate regional round of the Bucks Cup against Broomwade, Chesham won on three of the four triples, and remain in second place in the table, certain now to qualify for the quarter-finals.
On Sunday, playing the first leg of the Tosh Clarke Cup against Herts, Chesham won 85 – 69, top rink was George Fudge, Harry Denham, Andy Roker and David Staples (22 – 9) so Chesham take a 16 shot advantage to the second leg in July.
Chesham also won against Flackwell Heath by 109 – 66, top rink was Mo Bailey, Jeff Trickett, David Sills and Chris Fillery (33-13). Jeff was playing his first game for Chesham, and this score included a hot shot (all eight shots counting in one end) so it was a good afternoon for a new bowler.
In two ladies matches this week, Chesham won at home to Kings Langley 63 – 40, and had a top triple of Toni Nightingale, Vi Coppin and Chris Smethurst (20 – 15), but lost away to Hemel Hempstead 42 – 57, top rink was Eileen Perry, Vi Coppin, Pam Hooper and Dot Burgin (21 – 19).
