Pat and Avril get to Leamington in the County 2 Wood
Avril Harland and Pat Rodgers are off to the National Championships at Leamington, having won through to the final of the Ladies 2 wood county competition. The quarter finals and semifinals were played at Burnham on Saturday. Pat got through winning against opponents from Burnham and Princes Risborough, and Avril against Iver Heath and Winslow, to secure a place at Leamington at the end of July.
This week saw the visit of the Bucks Executive, and as usual Bucks President Colin Turvey brought a strong Bucks Team. Chesham just lost 126 – 134. Chesham top rink was George Perry, Richard Atkins, Colin Parsons and Howard Cave 23 – 19.
In club games this week, on Sunday Chesham won against Princes Risborough in the second leg of the Jubilee Cup. Chesham won 128 – 100, winning overall in the two legs by 29 shots and so retain the cup for another year. Top rink for Chesham was Richard Atkins, Andy Roker, Chris Fillery and Roger Elliston 34- 10.
However on Saturday, Desborough had revenge for their early season defeat, with a win at Chesham by 108 – 118. Top Chesham rink was Mo Bailey, Roger Lofty, Helen Fillery and Sue Faulks 25 – 14.
In the other game this week Chesham lost away to Berkhamsted, but did have a winning rink, Martin Blackman, Geoff Parr, Toni Nightingale and Barbara Strudwick 18 – 17.
