Pat does well at Leamington in 2 wood singles
At the National Championships in Leamington this week, Pat Rodgers had a good run in the 2 wood singles. Pat won her first and second round matches winning against Suffolk 16 – 9, and then Huntingdonshire 14 – 12. Pat then just missed out on a quarter final place, loosing by just one shot to Sussex 14 – 15, in the next round.
In friendly matches this week, Chesham won a close match against Thame 91 – 89, with a highest triple of Martin Blackman, Coral Sills and David Sills 21 – 7.
On Saturday Chesham were defeated on Bovingdon's artifical green 59 – 64, Chesham's top rink being, Molly Young, Robbie Williams, Barbara Strudwick and Tony Strudwick 22 – 13.
Similarly on Sunday Chesham went to Eastcote and lost 100 – 147, but did have a winning rink of Babs Williams, Robbie Williams, Fay Holmes and captain Peter Horton 23 – 18.
Better fortune in the Ladies games, winning away at Potten End 32 – 30 – top triple Eileen Perry, Barbara Strudwick and Jenny Ware 13 – 8, and drawing at home to Waddesdon 34 – 34 – top triple Babs Williams, Sylvia Warrington and Chris Smethurst 13 - 8.
Chesham played host to a Home Counties League match this week, where Buckinghamshire won against Berkshire, the Bucks team featuring six Chesham players.
