Chris and David win Australian Pairs
In the annual Australian Pairs competition, 32 teams contested the event which was won for the second year in succession by men's captain Chris Fillery, this time partnered by David Hobbs.
A week of mixed fortunes for Chesham. On Wednesday against Tring, Chesham lost by 83 - 126, but did have winning rink of David Hobbs, Rod Harvey, Mike Bailey and June Holland 17 - 13. Then on Saturday, Princes Risborough brought a strong team over for the first leg of the Jubilee Cup winning 99 - 131, Chesham's only winning rink being Brian Skuse, Harry Denham, Brian Wright and Chris Harvey 18 - 15, Chesham facing an uphill task in the second leg next month.
However, there was a turnaround on Sunday at Iver Heath where this time Chesham had a big win 136 - 106, helped by a top rink winning 39 - 10 - Chris Fillery, Robbie Lynch (guest from Iver Heath), Norman Green and Peter Horton.
