Chesham Teams meet in National Over 60s Double Rink
The current round of the National Over 60s Double Rink saw the two Chesham teams drawn together, and it was a victory for June and John Holland's rinks over Keith Patrick and Mick Skerry. Shirley Gardiner, Mike Bailey, David Staples and June Holland won 20 – 18, and Helen Fillery, Michael Richards, Sylvia Warrington and John Holland just lost 15 – 16, leaving their team winning overall by just one shot.
In the latest round of the Men's Top Club competition, Chesham won away to High Wycombe, winning three of the five matches. Scores were – Two wood Frank McCartney 18 – 2, Singles David Coles 22 -10, Pairs Chris Fillery and Gerry Elliot 24 - 28, Triples Geoff Denham, Chris Harvey and Keith Patrick 16 – 17 and Fours Nathan Harvey, Howard Cave, Ray Keen and Mick Skerry 26 – 15.
In friendly matches, on Saturday Chesham lost away to Broomwade by 101 – 139, top Chesham rink was Keith Ratford, Jackie Bateman, Margaret Shepherd and David Sills (26 – 17), and on Sunday at Desborough, Chesham won by 121- 92. Top rink was Delphine Brown, Jackie Bateman, Jean McNab and Trevor Bateman 32 – 13. Meanwhile in a ladies triples match Chesham lost to Princes Risborough 52 – 56, but did have a top rink of Kitty Lofty, Jean McNab and Captain Helen Fillery (18 – 14)
